I am from Brazil and come from a family with a multicultural background. I am passionate about foreign languages and cultures.  At our school, I teach English and Spanish. One of the most rewarding aspects of my work, besides seeing my students’ progress, is being able to show them how important intercultural competence is in language learning. In my free time, I enjoy drawing, listening to bossa nova, and spending time outdoors with my family and friends. My name is Mindy Kerekes-Schlaizer, although the students refer to me as Mrs. Kerekes. I have been at our school since 2004.  I studied Secondary Math Education in my hometown state of West Virginia in the U.S.A. and teach English at our school. I have a wide range of interests. Thanks to my running group I am a passionate long distance runner. I am a coffee and chocolate addict! I enjoy spending time outdoors and keeping active with my family and 2 dogs. I love to travel and learn more about other cultures. My name is Anna Marlen Kersting and I teach English and French at École. Although I live in Magdeburg I always come to school by bike because I love sports. My favourite types of sport are climbing and skiing (as you can see on the picture). Moreover, I used to play Quidditch which is by far the funniest sport I have ever done. I also like jogging, swimming, Yoga and hiking. I once did a hiking trip to Wales which was amazing. The landscape is beautiful! Apart from sports I like music a lot. My favourite instrument is the clarinet which I play in the university’s orchestra. Furthermore, I am involved in a gardening project together with some friends. We grow our own vegetables – well, we try. We also have barbecues in the garden or just hang around 😉 All in all, I have lots of hobbies and I do enjoy all of them. However, the most of my time I spend with my little son Matthias. One of my favourite places in Great Britain – Beachy Head near Eastbourne. I absolutely like the sea and mountains so that is the perfect place. Especially the South of England is one of my favourite regions. I love the many castles and gardens you can visit there as well as hundreds of places rich with history. Apart from that I enjoy travelling a lot – mainly within Europe. Either it is to enjoy culture and concerts or to relax in the nature – mainly in Bavaria. My name is Johanna Hatfield. I have been a teacher at the Internationales Gymnasium Pierre Trudeau since 2017. My subjects are English and Math. I enjoy conversing in English, even in Math lessons. The best aspect of teaching is to see the progress the kids make and the changes they undergo over the years. n my free time I love to be in the garden with my family, i.e. my husband and our three children. I also enjoy sporty activities like swimming, hiking, biking, skiing( or anything really in the snow) and playing handball, soccer or volleyball. On rainy days a good book, puzzle or arts and craft are part of my wish list. My name is Marshalee Lörch.  Two of my favourite things to do are teaching (most of the time) and gardening (always). I am always impressed with the development that students make from the fifth grade to the twelfth, at first not being able to converse very well in English but in a couple of years the students switch from German to English and back to German again effortlessly. I love teaching for this reason but also watching students growing into young adults – like seeds planted and watching them grow into different plants – this amazes me all the time, especially those who seem to change completely. ### Ecole goes USA Im März 2018 war es wieder so weit und zehn interessierte Schüler und zwei aufgeregte Lehrerinnen machten sich auf den Weg **in das entfernte Illinois**. Wir freuen uns auf euch, Frau Hinz und Frau Teutloff! ### Theateraufführung „White Horse Theatre Company“ Am 8.3.18 führte die „White Horse Theatre Company“ an unserer Schule** 2 Stücke in englischer Sprache** auf. Die Klassen 8 und 9 sahen die Shakespeare Komödie „ All’s Well That Ends Well“, die Klassen 10 und 11 sahen Thomas Hardys „Tess of the d’Urbervilles“.  Die 1. Aufführung sahen auch die Mitglieder der „English Theatre Group“ unserer Schule. Die Schüler und Schülerinnen der Klassen 5./6. holten sich viele Inspirationen für die eigenen Aufführungen am 25. und 26.06.18. Sie durften im Anschluss sogar noch einen **Blick hinter die Kulissen** wagen und stellten den Schauspielern viele Fragen auf Englisch. Report by Deborah Schubert (Klasse 11)  On the 8th of March 2018 the „White Horse Theatre“ which performs educational Plays in English and tours through Europe, visited our School in Barleben. The congenial, pleasant Group of four, two male and two female actors, from Great Britain performed„ Tess of the d’Urbervilles“ for us. The drama adaption by Lenny Wilson is based on the world famous late victorian novel by Thomas Hardy. It’s about love, innocence and forgiveness. The main character, Tess, is seduced, exploited and destroyed by Victorian Society. The heartbreaking Story is told in an old-fashioned language and the actors used a variety of dialects. Nevertheless, they did really well in presenting the Play, so it was easy to follow and understand. We thank the Company for the amazing and entertaining presentation.  ## The Canoe Cup 2017 in Wolmirstedt On Friday, June 9, the „Wolmirstedter Großbootcup“ took place.** Class 7c** of the„ Ecole“ school in Barleben joined the competition. The first round started at 9.45 AM and they won it. They won again by having a race against the team of the „Gutenberg Gymnasium“ in Wolmirstedt. The 7c was the fastest team in the second round. They had a time of 47 seconds. There were ten students in the boat, but they changed the team in every round. The semi-final was vs. the teams „SV Hesslich“ and „Schlüppper mit drei p“. The 7c finished second and qualified for the final round. It was very exciting. The other classmates, who weren`t in the boat, cheered their team. They won the finale. It was a very close race against the „Opel Corsa Gang“. Class 7c is the first team of „Ecole“ to win the competition and they are proud of it. It was such a great day for the class.for the class. ## Fremdsprachenwettbewerb Gift! und The BIG Challenge ECOLE-Schüler überzeugen bei Fremdsprachenwettbewerben Gift! 2017 Am 1. März 2017 haben Schülerinnen und Schüler der 7. Klassen am Einstiegswettbewerb für Fremdsprachen Gift! teilgenommen. Am internationalen Gymnasium „Pierre Trudeau“ haben 14 Schülerinnen und Schüler die **Mindestpunktzahl von 52 erreicht**. Insgesamt konnten 57 Punkte erlangt werden. Aus allen Teilnehmern in Sachsen-Anhalt wurden dann **die zehn Besten** der gemeldeten Schülerinnen und Schüler mit Mindestpunktzahl zu einem** dreitägigen Intensivkurs **eingeladen, der während der Schulzeit ganztägig stattfand. Zwei unserer Teilnehmer, Konstantin Berger (7d) und Donia Elzeni (7a), durften sich bei einer Punktzahl von jeweils 56 Punkten über die Teilnahme am Intensivkurs freuen. Wir gratulieren euch herzlich. Ihr könnt stolz auf euch sein. Erlebnisbericht von Konstantin Berger (7d): Vom 31. Mai bis zum 2. Juni habe ich an einem Englisch-Seminar teilgenommen, zu dem die 10 besten Teilnehmer des Landeswettbewerbs Fremdsprachen eingeladen wurden. Es waren allerdings nur Teilnehmerinnen außer mir. Das Seminar fand **in Magdeburg in der Jugendherberge** statt, da die Möglichkeit bestand, die 3 Tage dort zu übernachten. Da ich in Magdeburg wohne, habe ich zu Hause geschlafen. Die Lehrerinnen waren zu zweit, eine Englischlehrerin aus Magdeburg und eine Muttersprachlerin aus Irland. Die beiden haben sich immer abgewechselt, mal gab es **Kreativaufgaben**, mal aber auch **Vervollständigungsaufgaben**. Der Spaß kam trotzdem nicht zu kurz, da es einmal das tägliche Freizeitprogramm gab wie Kino oder Stadtrundfahrten, aber auch z.B. Rollenspiele. Besonders gut gefallen haben mir die Quiz-Angebote und die Rollenspiele. Was Leute mit weniger Fantasie„ ärgern“ könnte, ist, dass ca.** 2/3 der Aufgaben aus Kreativaufgaben** bestand, wie z.B. Geschichten schreiben. Als abschließendes Fazit ziehe ich, dass das Seminar mich sprachlich vorangebracht hat und ich es jedem empfehlen würde zu versuchen, daran teilzunehmen. Vor allen Dingen, da man die 3 Tage in der Schule freibekommt. 😀 The BIG Challenge 2017 Am 4. Mai 2017 nahmen die 5. bis 7. Klassen des Internationalen Gymnasiums „Pierre Trudeau“ wieder am bundesweiten Sprachwettbewerb „The BIG Challenge“ in der Kategorie„ Marathon“ (gymnasiale Schulformen) teil. Es gab in dieser Kategorie **158.014 Teilnehmer von insgesamt 1.212 Schulen** aus ganz Deutschland. Selbstverständlich gingen die klugen Köpfe nicht leer aus. **Alle Schüler **haben mindestens** ein Diplom bekommen**. Auch dieses Jahr konnten weitere Preise gewonnen werden, wie z.B. RECLAM-Bücher, EASY READER, verschiedene Magazine, DVDs, Poster, UK-/USA-Flaggen, Schülerkalender und vieles mehr. Für die drei besten Schüler des Landes, pro Jahrgangsstufe und Kategorie, gab es einen **„Super Länder Pokal“ und einen Sonderpreis**. Auf der Webseite des Wettbewerbs ist folgende Information zu finden: „Erstmalig erhielt in diesem Jahr jede Schule ab 35 Teilnehmern zumindest einen elektronischen Preis.
